Vegetarianism, minimal intake of animal products, poverty and malnutrition may lead to vitamin B12 deficiency. Laboratory reports often show pancytopenia, megaloblasts in bone marrow and low serum cynocobalamine. Injectable vitamin B12 is the treatment of choice.
