- Publication A Case of Colo-Colic Intussusception Revealing a Constitutional Mismatch Repair Deficiency Authors(Perinatal Society of Nepal (PESON), 2025) Mansuy, Ludovic; Destinval, Christelle; Lemelle, Jean-Louis; Chastagner, PascalAbstract: A 15-year-old boy presented with asthenia, dyspnea, and dizziness. On examination, he had many café-au-lait spots. The blood tests revealed an iron deficiency anemia at 28 g/l. A CT scan demonstrated a right colo-colonic intussusception. A laparoscopic right hemicolectomy was performed. Histology confirmed the existence of a colonic adenocarcinoma in situ and several other polyps as part of a Constitutional Mismatch Repair Deficiency Syndrome.
- Publication Bilateral Neonatal Testicular Torsion: A Case Report and Literature Review(Nepal Paediatric Society (JNPS), 2023) Wilsius, Emma; Destinval, Christelle; Lemelle, Jean-Louis; Rouabah, MahmoudAbstract: Bilateral neonatal testicular torsions (NTT) are exceptional. We report a case of NTT in a five days old male neonate. We had noticed a right blue, and hard testicle, on the clinical examination of a five-day-old male, one day before discharge. He was diagnosed with a right neonatal testicular torsion which was managed by a right orchidectomy and contralateral surgical exploration. Although the left testicle was vascularized on the preoperative Testicular Doppler Ultrasound (TDU), torsion of the left testicle was found peroperatively and treated by detorsion and orchidopexy. Though the left spermatic cord partially regained a red tinge, the testis remained purple, raising doubts about its viability. At two and six-month follow-ups, the left testicle was smooth but small, and a TDU demonstrated that it was poorly vascularized. Hence, in case of torsion, both the testis should be considered.
- Publication Laparoscopic Excision of Gastric Duplication in a Child: A Case Report and Literature Review(Nepal Paediatric Society (JNPS), 2023) Destinval, Christelle; Lemelle, Jean-LouisAbstract: We present the case of a 5-year-old child with a gastric duplication of antenatal discovery. The only clinical sign was an epigastric heaviness caused by the seat belt during car trips. The radiological assessment favored a cystic lesion on the stomach’s posterior surface. Excision of the lesion is performed laparoscopically without incident. Histology results confirmed the diagnosis of digestive duplication. The patient was discharged on Day 1 and released from the hospital on Day 2. A two year-follow-up has been uneventful.
- Publication Rapunzel Syndrome: Dual Case Report and Literature Review(Nepal Paediatric Society (JNPS), 2023) Destinval, Christelle; Larmure, Olivier; Lemelle, Jean-LouisAbstract: A 10-year-old and 15-year-old females were referred to the paediatric emergency department. The former complained about acute abdominal pain and faecaloid vomiting, whereas the latter had chronic epigastric pain and iron deficiency anemia. Both patients had a history of trichotillomania and trichophagia. Abdominal CT scan demonstrated a limited oval lesion, molding the stomach. Both girls underwent an exploratory laparotomy with gastrotomy. A gigantic trichobezoar, molding the stomach and expanding to the small bowel was extracted, confirming the diagnosis of Rapunzel syndrome. They were discharged home after 16 and 13 days, respectively. No recurrence occurred.
