Reliability and Validity of a Nepali Language Version of the Caregiver Knowledge of Child Development Inventory: A Mixed Method Study
(Nepal Medical Association, 2025) Giri, Janaki; Pradhan, Neelam; Shrestha, Rita; Shrestha, Bhawana
Abstract Introduction: The term "child development" describes the changes a child goes through from birth to adulthood in terms of their physical, linguistic, cognitive, emotional, and other development. Parents, caretakers, and family all have an important effect on it, especially during the first two years. The study aims to translate and analyze the psychometric properties of the English version of the (Caregiver Knowledge of Child Development Inventory (CKCDI) into the Nepali version (CKCDI-N) for mothers of children under two years old. Methods: This was a cross-section validation study carried out in Kageshwori Manohara Municipality from April 2024 to August 2024. Mothers with children under two years were randomly selected for the study. In first part tools were translated and cross-cultural adaptation was done by focused group discussion. This was followed by psychometric evaluation where Cronbach's alpha, factor analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis were used. Results: The content validation indicated the use of a reliable test with a Cronbach alpha of 0.704 for developing skills and 0.705 for developmental stimulation. The original CFA model had poor fit, but the updated model had a fair fit after correlating seven error term pairs. Factor loadings were over 0.50 for every item, and the diagonal values representing AVE square roots were greater than other correlation values. Conclusions: This reliability and validity of the Nepali Version of CKCDI-N showed that every item displayed as acceptable, and the internal consistency was also satisfactory.

Sarcoma Botryoid of Vagina and Cervix in a three year old girl
(Institute of Medicine, 2000) Rana, Ashma; Gurung, Geeta; Devkota, Krishna; Amatya, Archana; Joshi, BR; Baral, Josie; Pradhan, Neelam; Sharma, Rashmi; Giri, Kanti
Abstract A three year old with three months history of abdominal lump, blood mixed vaginal discharge and occasional urinary retention was operated as a case of sarcoma botryoid of vagina and cervix. This was proven histologically. With surgery it was possible to remove a huge mass arising from cervix and vagina measuring 10X10 cm. It was almost mimicking central cervical myoma. Initial surgery was observed to be beneficial in this case as it showed immediate good results by providing reduction of total tumour mass. She was planned for combination chemotherapy with VAC; however she developed abdominopelvic recurrence very soon. Keywords: young girl, vaginal growth, rhabdomyosarcoma, sarcomabytryoids

    Screening test for Gestational Diabetes
(Institute of Medicine, 1998) Rana, Ashma; Pradhan, Neelam; Gurung, Geeta; Singh, Meeta
Abstract Three hundred pregnant women attending the antenatal out-patient clinic of TU Teaching Hospital between 24-28 weeks of gestation were screened for gestational diabetes using 50 g of oral glucose; venous blood plasma was drawn 1 hour later. Screening test value of >140 mg/dl was taken as cut off for performing the 3-hour diagnostic oral glucose tolerance test, OGTT. Eleven [3.67%] pregnant women had their screening test value of >140 mg/dl and were again subjected to the 3-hour oral GTT, out of which two of the cases (0.66%) were diagnosed as diabetic. Because of low prevalence of diabetes, we recommended only to screen women at high risk for gestational diabetes with 50 g oral glucose and a value of >140 mg/dl taken as cut off for performing the 3-hour oral GTT. Keywords: GDM (gestational diabetes mellitus), GTT (Glucose Tolerance Test), Screening Test for diabetes
