Description

About the Journal Focus and Scope The purpose of bringing out the Nepal Journal of Neuroscience is to provide a medium for scientific discussion in the field of neuroscience or other information of interest to the specialties dealing with the diseases of the nervous system. The journal is devoted to the publication of work in the field of neuroscience relevant to Nepal. However, practice of science and dissemination of research should not be limited by geographical boundaries and hence genuine contributions are encouraged. NJNS abides by the principles of COPE, ICJME, CSE, WAME, DOAJ, OASPA guidelines. On average, a total of 14-16 articles will be published per issue. The articles will include editorials on various subject matter, review articles, research articles, original articles, historical vignettes, case reports and neuro view box depicting especial and typical pictorial view in neuro radio images. Short Communications which are short papers that present original and significant scientific material for rapid dissemination are also entertained. The articles may be on, in addition to neurosurgery, general medical topics and topics on allied subjects such as neurology, neuro-psychiatry, neuro-anesthesiology, neuro-radiology, neuro- pathology, neuro-ophthalmology, rehabilitation medicine etc. Similarly letters to the editor that are objective, constructive and educational, regarding scientific articles published in the Nepal Journal of Neuroscience or any pertinent issue will be considered for publication if found acceptable. All letters will be subject to abbreviations or editorial alteration. However, every effort will be made not to alter the author’s meaning. Obituary as well Voice of NESON shall also be published to keep the members and the readers abreast with happenings in the community. British English will be the official language of the Journal. The journal is also available on its own site at http://neson.org as well as permanently archived on https://www.nepjol.info/index.php/NJN Indexation The journal is presently indexed/archived at Nepal journal Online (NepJOL), Index Copernicus International (ICI) World of Journal, Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Crossref, Google Scholar and TDNet. Digital Object Identifiers (DOI) are given to each article through the NepJOL. Publication Frequency Nepal journal of Neurosciences will being published four times a year, from 2021. Open Access Policy This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Users have the right to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles in this journal, and to use them for any other lawful purpose. Article Processing Charges At present Nepalese Society of Neurosurgeons (NESON) bears all the expenses of editorial work and publication processes of the Nepalese Journal of Neuroscience (NJNS) and no article processing fees are asked from authors for the submitted articles. The journal does not charge authors for the figures both black and white or colour. Copyright and Permissions Copyright is transferred to the Nepalese Society of Neurosurgeons (NESON). Creative Commons Licence Articles in the Nepal Journal of Neuroscience are Open Access articles published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC). This license permits use, distribution and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited and is not used for commercial purposes. Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) The editors of Nepalese Journal of Neuroscience adhere to the COPE Code of Conduct. Charges of academic dishonesty, including plagiarism, duplicate and redundant publication will be managed according to COPE Guidelines. Plagiarism Each submission will be checked for plagiarism, if found, the Editorial Office will alert the author, asking her or him to rewrite or quote exactly and to cite the original source. If the plagiarism is extensive (i.e., >25% of the original submission), the editors will take appropriate action to notify both readers and the author’s employers of the infraction. Authors are encouraged to screen their work with software like iThenticate before submission. Peer Review Process Nepal Journal of Neuroscience invites two reviewers per article. Each reviewer is given a week for their initial response or acknowledgement and 2 weeks to complete a review. All reviews are double-blinded. Usually it is a single stage peer review process however in controversial circumstances, two-stage review is observed. The final decision on accepting a submission for publication rests with the Editor-in-Chief.
